This stoneware bonsai pot is 7 1/4” in dia x 1 3/4” overall height x 1 1/4” deep. The pot is unglazed with locally dug clay for color and texture. Bit of a story on this pot. While the south was ravaged from the hurricane Southern Ohio got a lot of storms as well. I had over 9" in 3 days. Water cut the banks on the creek on my property and while scoping it out I noticed a vein of dark soil about 2 ft. under the topsoil. It sure had a lot of clay content and some nice grog and sand mixed in. I had this pot going in the kiln bare and decided to mix the clay up and apply like glaze. Well, it fired really well. It vitriified fully and adhered well to the clay. The chemestry is right due to the slight sheen it developed. It has an almost purple tint to it, only seen in some oriental clays. VERY interesting. I went back and got a few more buckets. I might have found a clay vein on the property.
